Women and men in labor market: hidden discrimination
Although RA Constitution, the “Labor Code”, and the law “On State labor inspectorate” stipulate the principle of equal pay for equal work prohibiting gender-based separation in labor market and employment sphere, however, de facto, there is both vertical (unequal availability of career degrees) and horizontal (based on professions and sectors) discrimination against women. As a result, women’s monthly average net income is 59% of men’s income, and average monthly wage is 64.4% of men’s income.
