Local Elections: 13.5% of council candidates are women
On September 18, 13.5 per cent of 2 825 382 registered candidates in the upcoming local elections, council members in five regions of Armenia are female. These data were provided to WomenNet.am by the Central Election Commission on Monday.
63Council member female-candidates are running in 35 communities of Aragatsotn region, 121 – in the 59 communities of Ararat province, 142 – in 76 communities of Armavir region, 5 – in 3 communities Syuniq region, 51 – in 19 communities of Tavush region.
On September 18, 2016 the next local self-governmental elections in 317 communities are scheduled in Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Tavush and Syunik regions.
