Yerevan -2017. Women’s representation in the electoral lists / Infographic
Election campaign of municipal elections kicks off on April 21th. Let’s recall that participants of the race are the Republican Party of Armenia, “Yelq” alliance and “Yerkir Tsirani” party. Electoral lists are headed by the acting mayor Taron Margaryan, MP Nikol Pashinyan, an MP Zaruhi Postanjyan. WomenNet.am- presents a graph representation of women in electoral lists.
Republican list includes 195 candidates, of which 48 or 25% are women. There are two women in the top ten list, 4th and 8th places, Head of Journalists’ Union non-party Astghik Gevorgyan and Deputy Director of the Institute of Art at “National Academy of Sciences’ Doctor of Arts, Republican Anna Asatryan. Both are members of the council.
Next woman Naira Nahapetyan occupies 12th place in the list. She is also a member of the Council, President of Small Hydro Association, member of RPA board. Many of the women included in the list – 21 of them work in educational institutions, schools, kindergartens and colleges in Yerevan.
The electoral list of the party “Yerkir Tsirani” founded and led by MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, includes 51 candidates, 29 of them or 57% are women. The list is headed by MP Zaruhi Postanjyan. Candidates for the top ten were involved by a 50/50 proportion. 9 women included in the list are pedagogues and professors. Among the other candidates there are accountants, students, doctors, scientist and journalists.
Electoral list of “Yelq” alliance includes 63 candidates, 21 of them or 33% are women. 8 women candidates do not work, three of them are from education field. There are three women in the top ten. Anahit Bakhshyan iss the first woman member of the council’s list, she is ranked fourth on the list.
