The aim of the event is to aware public in large about violence against women and to present some cases of domestic violence. It also tends to rise the question whether\u00a0domestic\u00a0violence is a national tradition and a notion to be kept behind the family walls.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taking into account the fact that the Court of First Instance of Ararat and Vayots Dzor found Haykanush Mikayelyan &#8211; the mother-in-law of domestic violence victim Mariam Gevorgyan, to be guilty but convicted her to rather lenient punishment, the action will address the final verdict of Mariam Gevorgyan\u2019s case as well raising the concern that the absence of domestic violence law in Armenia results in such judgments.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>PUBLIC EVENT WILL TAKE\u00a0 PLACE ON <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>DECEMBER 3<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>at 15:30 <\/strong><strong>in<\/strong><strong> CHARLES AZNAVOUR SQUARE, IN FRONT OF MOSCOW CINEMA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We encourage mass media\u00a0\u00a0representatives\u00a0to be\u00a0present\u00a0in this important event, as well as widely disseminate the information about it because gender based violence in Armenia will decrease only due to the awareness raise.
