{"id":38317,"date":"2017-12-26T12:19:36","date_gmt":"2017-12-26T12:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archive.womennet.am?p=38317"},"modified":"2018-02-04T12:15:49","modified_gmt":"2018-02-04T12:15:49","slug":"community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.womennet.am\/en\/community\/","title":{"rendered":"The tendency to decrease the number of women in the community councils of the enlarged communities remains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.womennet.amwp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/inf-12-s.png\"><\/p>\n<p>As a result of the consolidation, the percentage representation of women in the councils has dropped by more than 2 times, and in some provinces &#8211; 3-6 times.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Women candidates were nominated only in 20 communities in the local elections held in the 34 enlarged communities on November 5<sup>th <\/sup>of this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Before the enlargement of 325 communities in 34 boulevards, there were 2059 members of the Council of Elders, of which 250 or 12% were women.<\/li>\n<li>41 of the 769 nominated candidates or 5.3%.are women.<\/li>\n<li>After the enlargement 34 bouquets have 416 council members, of which 23 or 5.5% are women.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In response to our question what steps and measures were taken to raise women&#8217;s representation in the enlarged communities, the ministry replied that explanatory and organizational work is being carried out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More radical changes in that direction are expected to be implemented during the transition to the formation of the Council of Elders, which is envisaged after the enlargement process,&#8221; the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Full text in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.womennet.am%D5%AD%D5%B8%D5%B7%D5%B8%D6%80%D5%A1%D6%81%D5%BE%D5%B8%D5%B2-%D5%B0%D5%A1%D5%B4%D5%A1%D5%B5%D5%B6%D6%84%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80%D5%AB-%D5%A1%D5%BE%D5%A1%D5%A3%D5%A1%D5%B6%D5%AB%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80%D5%B8%D6%82\/\">Armenian<\/a><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"newstxt\">As a result of the consolidation, the percentage representation of women in the councils has dropped by more than 2 times, and in some provinces &#8211; 3-6 times.
