The results of local government elections held in Gyumri on October 2d, perhaps were not a surprise for anyone. “Balasanyan” alliance of the government gathered the largest number of votes in Armenia’s second city.<\/p>\n

According to the preliminary data of the CEC, the political will of the Gyumri City Council will be 4 political forces, that is. “Balasanyan” alliance, “Prosperous Armenia”, “Armenian Renaissance” and “Gala” parties. If the picture does not change, then “Balasanyan” bloc will take 14-15 seats in the City Council, PAP – 9 seats, GALA – 4, “The Renaissance” – \u00a04 -5 mandate.<\/p>\n

For the first time in Gyumri city council will have 33 members after this election by proportional representation. According to preliminary estimates, 7 of 33 council members are women (if not Withdrawals). This is a positive trend, because it was one of only one woman among 21 female members of the city council of Gyumri.<\/p>\n
