For participation in the conference \u201cAfter Genocide: From Trauma to Rebirth: A gendered perspective representatives from a number of experts, with two of them WomenNet- had a chance to talk about wartime gender-based violence, as well as expectations in terms of participation of women in the armed forces. Our questions are answered by the director of the French organization \u00abWomen in War\u00bb Carol Mann (pictured, left) and the professor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\u00a0 Turkish-Armenian\u00a0 Lerna Ekmekchioghlu.<\/p>\n

Lerna Ekmekchioghlu: “I am very interested in gender-based violence, particularly in \u00a0children born as a result of rape \u2013 in a word, children of war. This is a major problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These babies were born and raised, and their fathers are considered enemies of the nation.<\/p>\n
