On September 18th<\/sup>\u00a0 community head elections will be held in most communities of Tavush province, including three larger communities, Noyemberyan (8 unites the community), Ayrum (9 communities), and Koghb (3 communities). Today, there is no female community leader in \u00a062 communities in Tavush region and in 22 communities the number of women councilors does not exceed 10%. In the rest of the communities there are no women.<\/p>\n

In this year’s local elections 47 men and 2 women are \u00a0nominated. Women do not want to be isolated from \u00a0the social, political complex problems, because they think that their participation in the local government system is necessity.<\/p>\n

It is another question how much women\u2019s role is encouraged in local self-government system, but these women prove that woman is highlighting the community’s interest and overcomes all obstacles.<\/p>\n
