In the Electoral Code gender representation in party lists enacted in 30\/70 ratio, instead of the current 20\/80, said RPA parliamentary group member Ruzanna Muradyan during the interview with WomenNet.am, informing that their proposal was joined by members of the various factions.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“This important proposal was made in view of the fact that in 2030 we should have a 50\/50 proportion. That’s why we came forward with this proposal and tried to involve all members of the National Assembly, not only women but also men, who wanted to sign the petition. And I should note that this proposal with enough signatures was submitted between the first and second reading of the draft new Electoral Code”, – said Ruzanna Muradyan, noting that proposal was accepted with a single reservation, the proportion of 30\/70 will enter into force only in 2022, and before that, 25\/75 proportion will function with the current changes.<\/p>\n

Our observation that the 30\/70 ratio in party lists would be mandatory only after six years, she said, that it is perceived as a guarantee of the result of joint work, which nevertheless was adopted by the Government and established in the Electoral Code. “This was an important achievement,” she said.<\/p>\n
