Mr. Antonio de Aguiar Patriota,<br \/>\nPresident of the General Assembly,<br \/>\nSecretary-General of the UN,<br \/>\nVice President of ECOSOC,<br \/>\nMinisters,<br \/>\nWomen and\u00a0civil society representatives,<br \/>\nRepresentatives of the Youth CSW,<br \/>\nColleagues, ladies and gentlemen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This 60<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Commission on the Status of Women is the\u00a0first CSW of the new 2030 Agenda\u00a0for Sustainable Development.\u00a0Our theme is\u00a0women\u2019s empowerment and the link to sustainable development. Because of the hard work by many of you in this room and beyond, the Sustainable Development Goals include gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls\u00a0as a centrepiece, with enabling targets threaded throughout all the other goals,\u00a0making\u00a0gender systematically integrated\u00a0into the implementation of the whole Agenda for Sustainable Development.This Commission\u00a0is the largest and most critical intergovernmental forum,\u00a0with diverse\u00a0women\u2019s voices that\u00a0can influence the road to 2030.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"newstxt\">The sixtieth session of the\u00a0Commission on the Status of Women\u00a0will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March 2016.
