He is considered as the main representative of postmodernism in literature and philosophy and was known for his research in the field of semiotics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>His novels \u201cName of the rose\u201d and \u201cFaucaut\u2019s pendulum\u201d brought worldwide fame to him, though Eco said about his literary activity: \u201cI am a philosopher. I write novels only on weekends\u201d. His latest literary work \u201cThe Prague Cemetery\u201d was published in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eco taught theory of culture and aesthetics in Universities of Milan, Tunin and Florence. His works \u201cHistory of beauty\u201d and \u201cDisgrace history\u201d are very famous. He was doctor of many Universities. He wrote a large number of essays on philosophy, linguistics, medieval artistic ability, had many publicist articles in the press. We are representing a historical review on women philosophers published in El Mundo newspaper back in 2004:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLooking through the most famous encyclopedia, I have not found any information about women philosophers except Hepatia. And that is not because of the fact that there were no wise women in the history thinking about knowledge and principles of being, the origin and structure of the Universe. Simply male philosophers preferred to burry women philosophers at the same time probably privatizing their philosophical studies\u201d, &#8211; writes Umberto Eco, referring to the book \u201cWomen philosophers in the history\u201d published in France.
