WomenNet.am won a special award

 

Today, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, “ARTICLE 3. At the annual Journalists for Rights Awards, the website WomenNet.am received a special award for consistently covering and voicing women’s issues. The special award was presented by the Coalition to Stop Violence against Women.

 

The main goal of the award ceremony is to promote the coverage of human rights, increase the quality of the content of articles on human rights topics, and inculcate sensitive and correct approaches to raising issues.

 

Two of the journalists cooperating with WomenNet.am also received special awards. Young journalist Mary Matevosyan received a special award from YSU rector for her article “Even my mother now wonders how I managed to stand up…” published in WomenNet.am. for the article. Arman Gharibyan, one of the regular authors of our website, received a special award from the United Nations Population Fund for his program on Factor TV, dedicated to the coverage of violence against women and court hearings related to it.

 

“Article 3: Journalists for Rights” award ceremony was organized by “For Equal Rights” Educational Center NGO and “Article 3” Club with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia and the European Endowment for Democracy.

 

During the award ceremony, the media and journalists won 9 main and 5 special awards. Special awards were given by the President of the Constitutional Court, RA Human Rights Defender, YSU Rector, UN Population Fund and UN HIV/AIDS agencies and the Coalition “Against Violence against Women”.

 

P.S. WomenNet.am congratulates and thanks all the journalists and partner organizations cooperating with it, thanks to whose efforts and support, the website has been able to focus on and cover all the issues related to women’s rights in Armenia for more than ten years of its existence.
