UNICEF: 75% of 2 to 4 years old children are subjected to violence by their parents
More than half of all children in 30 countries are subjected to any type of physical punishment: one in ten gets a slap or a blow, and in a quarter of all cases parents shake the baby with force. This is stated by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) “Familiar Face: violence in the lives of children and adolescents “recently published, based on research findings.
The authors of the report state that millions of children in different countries are being subjected to violence. They are victims of rape, terrorism and smuggling. Many children suffer from the physical and psychological brutality of their loved ones, including their own home and school.
“According to statistics, children are subjected to violence at all ages, at different locations, and often by those who need to take care of them and protect them,” said UNICEF Representative Claudia Kappa.
About three quarters of the two to four-year-olds – about 300 million children around the planet – are subjected to physical or psychological aggression from their parents. In many countries, violence against children is considered permissible, including rooted traditions. To date, 732 million children between the ages of 6 and 17 have been living in countries that do not have laws protecting them from correctional schooling.
The new report says that millions of girls are raped, and only a few are looking for professional help.
