Tsovinar Samsonyan: “I attach great importance to the involvement of young and educated cadres in the Yerevan government”
Interlocutor of WomenNet.am is Tsovinar Samsonyan, 8th in the list of “Yerevantsyner” bloc in Yerevan City Council elections.
She was born in 1966, graduated from Yerevan State Institute of Physical education and Vardanants University. She works at the Kentron and Nork-Marash Civil Acts Registration Office of the Yerevan Municipality.
Because of the work, it is important to raise the awareness and legal awareness of the residents of Yerevan, which will help them to pursue their social and other rights. This, of course, does not exclude the responsibility of the city authorities in securing a transparent and fair governance model that will contribute to the development of the capital and the prosperity of the residents of Yerevan.
– What are your concerns and the urgent problems of the capital?
– By the way, I highlight the issue of elderly care. An elderly care model has been introduced in Armenia through home care providers and volunteers. I find that volunteers should be provided with wheelchairs and other means to ensure better care for sick and elderly people, besides providing a certificate to encourage volunteer work.
One of the main problems of Yerevan is garbage disposal, which, I think, is a consequence of mismanagement; I do not exclude the disrespect of the part of the capital city towards the purity of its city. Yerevan residents should love and cherish their city like their own home, like a hearth. The choice of correct, working, dedicated staff in the field is a solution. The important thing is not so much the program, but the ways and mechanisms of its implementation. The elimination of monopoly will be one of the options for garbage disposal.
I also highlight the obvious problem of urban transport. People continue to suffer, traveling in inhuman conditions, walking along the buses. This is not only a social, economic, security, environmental, but also a matter of dignity.
– How do you see the face of the capital?
Today, the city faces the danger of losing its face and needs a struggle for its rights. My motto is, “Valuing the old, build the new.” Though for tourists Yerevan is a city with colorful buildings and color combinations, but we know what kind of losses Yerevan has suffered after Armenia’s independence. Everyone remembers how many demonstrations and protests were being held during the construction of buildings in the center of Yerevan for years, the city’s symmetry and elite buildings that ruined the Tamanian project.
