Female candidates on party lists in local elections / infographics
Women account for 36% of the candidates on the party lists of the 17 political forces competing in the proportional LSG elections to be conducted on October 17 in Dilijan, Gyumri, Meghri, Goris, Tatev, and Tegh.
WomenNet.am examined the party lists released on the CEC’s official website and discovered that political parties nominated more female candidates in their lists.
It is worth noting that only one party list of the 17 political forces contesting the municipal elections is led by a woman.
According to the communities, an examination of the party lists reveals that there are more female candidates in Dilijan’s proportional elections. Thus, 38 percent of candidates in the participating forces are women in Dilijan, 37 percent in Gyumri and Meghri, 33 percent in Goris, and 32 percent in Tatev and Tegh.
Shamiram, Ferik, and Fioletovo will hold majoritarian LSG elections on October 17. When the representation of women candidates in the majoritarian system is compared to the number of women on the proportional lists, it can be argued once more that the proportional system is more effective in terms of women’s involvement due to the quota.
