Bovadzor women support Melanya Vardanyan, the only candidate for the village council
Melanya Vardanyan is the only candidate for the Council of Elders from Bovadzor community in Lori province. If she is elected as a result of the local self-government elections scheduled for November 5th, she will become a member of the community council of the great Lori Berd community.
Why were no other candidates nominated from the village? Vardanyan finds it difficult to say – “Most of the men are abroad, they left for work abroad. And the few men who are in the village did not want to run”, – says the candidate.
The only candidate in Bovadzor is competing with 18 rivals from nine united communities. “Our community is very consolidated. I put my hopes on my community because they do not know me at other communities. I hope the community will elect me and I will be elected. But at the same time I’m a little worried. Our community is the smallest of the 9 communities that unite and if smaller communities are not represented in the council, they can simply be lost as a result of the enlargement”, – says the candidate.
She promised her fellow villagers that if elected, she will contribute to raising the fame of Bovadzor and solving the problems of the village.
