Tavush women in the electoral struggle. yesterday and today 

On September 18^th  community head elections will be held in most communities of Tavush province, including three larger communities, Noyemberyan (8 unites the community), Ayrum (9 communities), and Koghb (3 communities). Today, there is no female community leader in  62 communities in Tavush region and in 22 communities the number of women councilors does not exceed 10%. In the rest of the communities there are no women.

In this year’s local elections 47 men and 2 women are  nominated. Women do not want to be isolated from  the social, political complex problems, because they think that their participation in the local government system is necessity.

It is another question how much women’s role is encouraged in local self-government system, but these women prove that woman is highlighting the community’s interest and overcomes all obstacles.
