Sophia Hovsepyan: “I want politics to see honest people”
Sofiya Hovsepyan, MP candidate nominated from the “My Step” alliance in the 11th constituency of Shirak Region, became more popular in the days of “Electrical Yerevan” when one of the leaders of that movement Sophia says she has been the co-author of various public initiatives for nearly 15 years. After the velvet revolution in April-May of this year Sofya Hovsepyan was appointed deputy governor of Shirak Region.
It feels like acting as a deputy governor and is acting efficiently, ignoring all the difficulties. “I was respected both by men and women and throughout the region.” She is a psychologist by profession. She admits that her profession has helped her in all the areas she has worked as an organizer. “If it were not for my profession, I would look at many issues from a different point of view.”
According to Sofia Hovsepyan, there are difficulties for women in all spheres, whether in public, civic activity or in the system of governance. “Sometimes the role of a woman, especially if she is successful, is seen as a disturbing factor in the sense that a woman is self-established. But, I think, a smart man should not be troubled by the activities of his wife, but inspiration and a better job, “says Sofya.
Today, many problems are facing: deserted villages in frontier settlements, dying farming, education, lack of investment programs, water problems, migration, indifference to farmers.
