Digitec-2017 smart girls represent

The annual DigiTec -2017 exhibition opens in Yerevan on September 29, with different Armenian and foreign companies and individuals presenting their innovations in the field of technology. WomenNet.am talked to “smart” girls from DigiTec17.

“Smart home”

Monica Hambardzumyan and Gayane Demirchyan are programmers working at Yerevan Telecommunication Research Institute. They create android and web applications, are engaged in java programming, hold classes and internships for students.

This year’s java programming manual, co-authored by Monika and Gayane, has been published by Shushi Technology University. Girls also have compiled labs for students to make the learning process more intense and more interesting.

Monica and Gayane created a program that allows students to see the results of their university trials immediately in the classroom. “Students can immediately see the result of their work, they can also send instructions, and the puppy will raise the hand,” Gayane says. With the help of the girls’ booth today, students of Shushi Technological University learn java programming.

Currently, Monica and Gayane are working on the Smart Home project, which allows them to remotely control all home remedies. “Thanks to this application you can remotely control all the home appliances with your smartphone. This is news in Armenia, but there is still no demand, but gradually I think it will be, “says Monica.

Gayane wants to create programs that will be news for not only Armenia but also for the whole world. Monica also notes that the systems they create are for facilitating life. “Armenia should not stay beyond foreign technologies, and we can create similar systems”, –  Monica is sure.

Intellectual games and useful applications

25-year-old Ani Karapetyan, despite her young age, is already head of the technical department at Codics. “I have been working since the third year of studies, three years ago I came to Codics as a junior programmer, and years later I became a manager,” says Ani. During those years, Ani took part in the creation of a number of applications, for example, to create an intellectual game for chess learners through which children solve puzzle problems.

Ani also participated in the creation of “My Armenia” game designed for children arriving to Armenia. Apart from providing trilingual information about Armenia’s attractions, the game also helps children learn Armenian words, and when a child leaves Armenia, he can make a video of his travels by completing his days in Armenia.

“We are trying to create programs that have a history behind, and we are doing deep projects that value us. For example, we have recently created a website that gives people the opportunity to make donations for preparation of audio-video materials for the American schools on the motives of  the film “Promise” dedicated to the Armenian Genocide”, – says Ani Karapetyan.

“Remote Controlled hand”

Babayan Kristine and Anna Vardanyan are studying at the faculty of Cybernetics at the National Pedagogical University of Armenia. The girls have created a remote control that is of strategic importance because it can be used in such environments where life or health may be endangered. The exhibition participants had the opportunity to test the remote control on the spot. You have to wear the glove and move your fingers. The remote control repeats the movements simultaneously.

“A robotic hand can also be used in cosmic exploration, it can be in space and man can control it from planet Earth,” explains Anna. The girls are also planning to create a remote control of the hand with the prosthesis. “There is also a desire to connect the robotic arm to the human brain to get instructions from the brain and perform it. Of course, it may take dozens of years, but it’s our dream, “says Christine.
