Ensuring equal opportunities for women and men is one of Armenia’s national goals
The issue of approving the National Security Strategy was discussed at today’s sitting of the Security Council, among other issues. The sitting was chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who delivered a message in which he presented the National Security Strategy, the national values of the Armenian people and the national goals.
In particular, the national goals of the Armenian people, according to the Prime Minister, are to ensure the ideological, security, public, political, legal, economic, demographic, international, educational, intellectual, cultural, institutional conditions necessary for the eternity of the Armenian state; International recognition of Artsakh’s right to self-determination without restriction; International recognition of the Armenian Genocide, overcoming the consequences and elimination; ensuring the security, welfare, freedom and happiness of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, as well as other well-known rights; equality of all before the law, equality of women and men, ensuring equal opportunities for women and men to participate in public, state, economic life, protection of right, affirmation of national unity based on the fulfillment of responsibilities; development of the national-state identity, independence and preservation and sovereignty of the Armenian people; Consolidation of pan-Armenian potential around the realization of national goals for the preservation and development of national values.
It should be noted that the text of the strategy addresses the issues of equality between women and men not only in the context of the national goals of the Prime Minister’s message, but also:
In the 6th section “Ensuring Democracy, Human Rights and the Rule of Law” and 7th – “Ensuring the security and welfare of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, ensuring the sustainable economic development of the country.”
In particular,
The national goals of the Armenian people are:
– Ensuring the ideological, security, public, political, legal, economic, demographic, international, educational, intellectual, cultural and institutional conditions necessary for the eternity of the Armenian state.
– International recognition of Artsakh’s right to self-determination without any restrictions.
– International recognition of the Armenian Genocide, overcoming and eliminating the consequences.
– Ensuring the security, welfare, freedom, happiness, as well as other popular rights of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
– Equality of all before the law, equality of women and men, ensuring equal opportunities for women and men to participate in public, state, economic life, protection of rights, and national unity based on the fulfillment of responsibilities.
– Preservation and development of the national-state identity, independence and sovereignty, of the Armenian people, including the restoration of national identity and development among the Armenians who have left the national self-consciousness, in general, the level of knowledge of the Armenian language among the Armenians, significantly increasing the number of Armenian citizens.
– Consolidation of pan-Armenian potential around the realization of national goals for the preservation and development of national values.
- ENSURING DEMOCRACY, HUMAN RIGHTS AND SUPERVISION OF RIGHTS
6.6 The low level of women’s involvement in various spheres of public and political life, especially in public administration, does not allow the full use of human capital in the areas of national security and sustainable development. The state will pursue the provision of equal rights for women and men, as well as the creation of equal opportunities, conditions and the promotion of the inclusive participation of women in political decision-making processes.

Improving public welfare and demographics
7.33 We are committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all social groups, including social and economic inclusion, including dignified aging, equality between women and men, and the prevention of violence and the effective protection of the rights and interests of children and persons with disabilities.
The final provisions of the Strategy state that the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Armenia is accepted as a guideline document to define the main directions, threats, challenges and priorities of the security policy.
