New life to old clothes ․ A story about how “Kashmir” was born in Spitak

“As a child, my sister and I sewed clothes for dolls. Already during my school years I started to change my clothes. I saw beautiful clothes or bags in different magazines, I tried to get something similar with the help of my mother, “recalls Nune Alaverdyan, who two months ago started her own clothing processing business, which, in addition to being innovative, also has a social component.

As a child, she dreamed of becoming an actress, but by the decision of her parents, she chose the profession of linguist. Not so long ago she taught English at an online school, conducted individual classes, and worked in the public sphere. Until one day she decided to follow the dictates of her heart and do her favorite job – processing clothes․

I was very happy to see that it was possible to give new life to my clothes. My parents and friends liked it a lot, and strangers were interested in where I bought it so that they could buy it too․ “They did not think it was old clothes,” says Nune.

Until 2021 she worked in the public sector, then from home until late in the evening, conducting online language lessons. She was very tired of the computer. At the beginning of the year there were changes in the workplace, she had to take on new responsibilities, which meant more time in front of the computer. Then she decided to quit her job, relax a bit and think about conquering new horizons․

She admits that when presenting the program, she did not imagine that it would be so difficult to implement it. It turned out that it is easier to get clothes from a new fabric than to recycle the existing ones. There are many challenges, including lack of experience and acting alone, but Nune is not afraid of all this. Trying to move forward in small steps, learning something new every day․

Nune Alaverdyan’s “Kashmir” has been operating in her favorite city, Spitak, for about two months now. She buys used clothes, sends them for dry cleaning, then remodels them and sells them, and sometimes does charity․

In the future, Nune plans to deepen her knowledge in the field of business management, as well as to develop “Kashmir”. She says that with some financial support, it will be easier to do that. But, all the same, the coming challenges do not scare Nune.
