Nazik Avdalyan’s incredible feat at the European Championship

69 kg weightlifting champion Nazik Avdalyan from Gyumri’s made true heroism at European Weightlifting Championship in Norway Fyorde, immediately winning two gold and one silver medal. She lifted 105 kg in the snatch, becoming a silver medal winner and then in the jerk (132) and lifting (237) she left no chance to the rivals, winning the European title.

In 2009, two years after the world champion athlete in Korea, she had a traffic accident which severely damaged the spine. Many hurried to write her out of the sport. But she took it back. And she returned. Basically, doctors only gave her permission to train in April of the last year, she began training and one year later won the European title.

After winning Nazik said live on television. “Well, now I really say that I dedicate my victory to the Armenian soldiers- heroes fighting in Karabakh. Thank you, guys, we’re with you all.
