“Angel with disabilities.” Mughdusyan Art Center’s students are creating without any stereotypes
Painter Mughdusyan’s Mughdusyan Center for the Arts, founded in 2014, soon became a favorite school for many representatives of different social groups . Here academic education is rendered in, tailored to children and adolescents. One of the peculiarities is the social component. As she says, inside the walls of the center inequality and discrimination are excluded.
This is one of the few places in Yerevan, where a representative of any group enters and everyone feels equal with the other. This is a unique opportunity not only for vulnerable members of the group, but for the children of wealthy families, because they get a chance to study in an environment where they understand that there are other people besides themselves, there are different people. Thus they get prepared to great life, where not everything is clear”.
She began working with children many years before at another art center, then decided to create a center where she can realize her innovative approaches. “I realized the truth that the artist is a person inside whom the child does not die and continues to live up to the end”. The newly established Center first had 7 children, while today the number is 37. Not only drawing but also vocal, ceramics, sculpture and carpet are taught at Mughdusyan Art Centre.
