“Meline’s garden”: Cereals of Incas and Aztecs in Armenia 

Two years ago, in April of 2015, “Meline garden” company began its activities in Armenia , its founder Talin Kevonyan introduced previously unknown species of grain, sagakhot (quinoa) and sage (chia).

Young professional Talin Kevonyane arrived to Armenia  from the US with a special mission to be useful. Living in the United States she had noticed how these new types of grain were becoming more and more popular in the market every day, sagakhot and sage, as well as flax. Although even in the US 7-8 years ago, few people knew about them.

Knowing that sagakhot and sage are not grown in Armenia, Talin aimed to start production of these plants. Decided and without losing time acted quickly. From the start, she was sure, the production of these crops would be in benefit of farmers, the soil or the investor. The studies revealed that these plants are not only nutritious but also very useful for land to be developed. they not only do not cause depreciation of land, but also enrich it, and in the future  these lands will not need to be enriched with  artificial fertilizers not favorable  for the health.
