Liana Bangoyan: “Yerevan should take responsibility for every Armenian”
Liana Bangoyan has been nominated for the 8th horizontal of the Hayq (Haykazunner) party in snap elections. Liana, a lawyer by profession, is convinced that women’s involvement in politics is a crucial necessity for women to offer clear solutions to many issues.
She was born in Yerevan, in the family of veteran of Artsakh war Vladimir Bangoyan. She graduated from Yerevan State University, Faculty of Law, Galik University with a degree in law. She worked at the “Trade and Service” State College after Achemyan. Since 2011 up to now she has been working at the Department of Languages at the National University of Architecture and Construction, Shirakatsi University of International Relations.
– The nomination of Yerevan Council of Elders is your first step in politics, why did you decide to run?
“This is my first step in politics. And it is a decision that has been made as a result of long-term weighting. And I decided to run because I find that I can and must use my knowledge and abilities for the benefit of our society. And I did not run in the past because the former system did not tolerate knowledge. You had to become just the slave of the system and use your potential only for the welfare of the system and not for the benefit of the society, the people.
– What is your main message to the residents of Yerevan, why should they choose you and your party?
Our main point is that Yerevan, being the capital, has a higher mission not only for Yerevan residents but also for all Armenians, rather than just minor issues. The groups of professionals should deal with these daily issues. If you follow our Facebook page, every day, at 20:00, experts will discuss various issues of concern to the public. You can also ask them questions. And Yerevan’s mission must be to become the center of all Armenians.
– What are the main issues that will be in your focus if elected to the council?
I am a lawyer by profession, but I have been working in the field of education and I teach and work as an administrative worker, ie I am familiar with the issues in this area from different sides. Therefore, in the case of being elected a Council member, my focus will be on education. The latter is mainly because I attach great importance to the education of the younger generation and especially to the upbringing of the Armenian people.
– Finally, what do you want to see in the capital?
“I want to see our motherland pure not only from the outside. The external purity of the city is my axiom. But today the cleanness of our souls is more important than ever. Because if we do not formulate the mentality that every one of us should care about our capital, about preserving our national values, culture, mastery, and transferring next generations (not just guilty of seeking), it is difficult to have any effect to reach.
