Zaryuhi Postanjyan called on NGOs dealing with the problem of violence against women
Combine forces over the signing of the Istanbul Convention
“The Foreign Ministry reports that very soon Republic of Armenia will initiate the signing of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) – MP Zaruhi Postanjyan’s question to RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on February 29 got such a response.
According to the “Heritage” faction’s press service, Deputy’s question aimed to find out why Armenia does not sign Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence,in which stage of negotiations is the issue, what obstacles are there to sign and ratify it, and when it is expected to be signed and ratified.
Based on the response received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she made a call to civil society and concerned citizens who are struggling to prevent violence, to join forces on this issue, demonstrate inactivity and attention to sign the Convention as soon as possible.
