Half of those applying for self-withdrawal are women
On November 29th, at 18:00, the deadline set out in the Electoral Code ended when candidates, political parties, alliances or parties that nominated for the extraordinary parliamentary elections scheduled for December 9th could withdraw their candidacies.
The CEC informed WomenNet.am that none of the participating political forces has submitted a self-withdrawal application. Instead, such a statement was presented to the commission by four dozen candidates included in the lists of different forces. 20 of the applicants are women, with 19 of them being satisfied. The registration of RPA female candidate Susanna Gevorgyan has been revoked by the fact of death.
Candidates included in the party “Sasna Tsrer” have expressed the majority of self-withdrawals. Twelve candidates have dropped out of the race. The second place in the list of self-withdrawals is the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) with 6 candidates, the third with the 5 candidates nominated by the Bright Armenia and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP).
Four of the six candidates who have submitted withdrawals from RPA are women.
It should be noted that since November 29th, the process of printing ballots has started in the “Tigran Mets” publishing house.
