Hripsime Arakelyan: “Experience has shown that journalists become good MPs”
Our interlocutor is Hripsime Arakelyan, a member of Yerevan Council of Elders and candidate for parliament. She was nominated by the proportional list of the Prosperous Armenia Party, as well as by the rating system in electoral district N1, which includes Nor Nork, Kanaker-Zeytun and Avan administrative districts.
Hripsime Arakelyan entered the journalistic field since 1997, worked as a journalist in the AR TV, and then managed different news outlets in various media like Ar, Hay TV, Kentron TV, Public Television, Public Radio …. The desire to get better with the art of working with people and administrative work led to the Academy of Management where she received a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
She says her career is her wealth, she has learned a lot, being a journalist for many years has helped her to get closer to the activities of all state institutions. That’s why positively evaluates the inclusion of journalists in the voter lists and not only because journalists, especially political journalists are very informed.
Hripsime Arakelyan is also a member of the Yerevan Council of Elders and the secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) faction; she says that now participating in this new election campaign is not only a test that she is ready to pass but also a new responsibility.
As for the Council of Elders, she has already managed to come up with several initiatives and says that if she appears in the National Assembly, she will keep in the center of attention other issues of the capital city and a number of legislative projects that will also benefit Yerevan.
In answering the question of protecting women’s interests in the parliament, she says that she is a very important issue for her.
