Are you ready to defend the interests of women in parliament? A question to newly elected female MPs
Recently, the newly elected National Assembly held its first session. Among the 105 deputies of the legislative activity 18 are women, ten of them for the first time to enter the parliament. WomenNet.am talked to some of the newly elected female members, offering to answer just one question, whether they are ready to defend the rights and interests of women, regardless of their political stances…

“Of course, women’s issues will be a priority for me because I’m a woman and I understand very well in what kind of society we live in and what issues are relevant to women. I have repeatedly said that women’s potential is much greater than it is today represented in this or that area and the legislature and I have always been in favor of the politically correct, broad vision, intelligent women to be more represented in different sectors. I am confident that the increased involvement of women only has a positive impact on any field, including politics. In the course of my work I will try to speak not only about women’s rights, but also more global issues, and have a very active part in the discussion of such matters”.
Shushan Sardaryan RPA Faction
“Absolutely and without a word, I am ready to defend the interests of women. I can not specify the areas of activities, but I think that after a more detailed study I will be able to identify priorities. And yes, I am ready not only to vote as a member, but especially as a woman member of parliament”.
