Women’s time is now”. The first FemInno conference on women’s innovation was concluded in Armenia

On July 30-31, the largest international conference on women’s innovation in Armenia and the entire region was held in the Demirchyan Sports Concert Complex, which gathered more than 30 speakers from Armenia and more than 10 other countries: USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Arab United Emirates, Nigeria, etc. In the name FemInno, the organizers combined the words women (fem) and innovation (inno) and set the goal of uniting organizations interested in the advancement of women in the local ecosystem, as well as drawing new attention around Armenia to this topic, which is quite relevant in the world.

We have chosen the slogan “#FemaleisNOW” (translated as “Women’s time is now”) as the theme of the FemInno conference, to confirm that instead of “the future belongs to technology” or “the future belongs to women”, we should agree that “women’s time is now” , – explains Seda Papoyan, the founder of FemInno.

FemInno was a new initiative celebrating the talent and leadership of women in technology, business and science, which seeks to highlight the role of women in innovation and create a new environment in the so-called Silicon Mountains, Armenia

Among the speakers, participants and guests were female and male specialists from the following fields: business, science and technology. Even ambassadors accredited to Armenia joined the conference to share their experience. The organizers of FemInno also managed to invite representatives from government institutions, confident that the change can become a reality with the support of decision makers.

During the conference, a two-day job fair was attended by companies that encourage the participation of women in their teams. Speeches, panel discussions, thematic workshops and the last round of the international competition of startups founded by women were held in parallel halls. Two Armenian teams, MiCoFe and oqni, were recognized as winners, each of which will receive 5,000 USD.

The FemInno Conference on Women’s Innovation will be an annual event, with the next one scheduled for July 2023.
