In the first tens positions of the lists women make up 25%
Only one woman heads the political forces participating in extraordinary parliamentary elections.
In the lists of three parties, women are in the second place.
11 political forces, nine parties and two alliances have applied for the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for December 9th.
In the first tens of the lists of political forces that have applied for the elections, women make up 25%, which is regressing compared to the Yerevan Council of Elderly elections, when women in the top ten lists were 30.8%.The same can be said about the top five, where women constitute only 21.8%, while in the first five of the lists of women in the Yerevan Council of Elders 25% were women. After the CEC publishes the full list, it will be possible to evaluate the extent to which parties have shown good will in terms of women’s involvement.
According to the schedule set by the Electoral Code and the Central Electoral Commission, the registration of electoral lists of political parties and party alliances participating in early NA elections will be carried out by November 19th.
Parties, alliances and their members may apply for self-withdrawal by November 28th at 18:00
The pre-election campaign kicks off on November 26 and ends on December 7th.
