When will domestic violence stop?

On the occasion of the National Day of Domestic Violence against victims of violence WomenNet.am asked a question to right defenders and citizens how to stop domestic violence. Below are the opinions, without interference.

Zaruhi Batoyan: “Domestic violence will end when people know that they have the opportunity to be protected, that is, the law, the legal field, and all the opportunities to protect a person. I think it will give people a lot of self-confidence, as each person must feel safe to take action “.

Knarik Antonyan: “In my opinion, if we had a law, men would behave differently and would be more sober, they would think that they could be held accountable for violence.”

Zaruhi Hovhannisyan: “The society must gradually change, and that change can be achieved through education. Our educational system is stereotyped and these stereotypes are later transformed into violence. The culture of violence can be eliminated through education. The educational system needs change”.

Lara Aharonyan: “Violence will stop when we condemn it, for example, say that it is not acceptable and should not occur. If we reach the situation that we will no longer try to look for the causes of violence and find excuses, then violence will stop”.
