“I check the passports of the villagers before the police”
How is rural life organized in the context of the epidemic, what problems do they face because of quarantine?
Susanna Gorgyan.
I mainly pay attention to not letting the residents get together and avoid crowds”.
The village of Arevashat in the Armavir region is one of the most successful communities where no infected people with the coronavirus have been registered so far. There was one isolated resident who had returned from Russia. Two weeks later, the test results were negative.
The head of the community Susanna Ghorgyan is happy and proud of the healthy residents. She was informed about the results of the thermometer of the isolated resident every day. “It is the village of Musaler in our neighborhood. The dispensary located there also serves our village. The nurses performed thermometers every day and were instructed to do so. 15 days passed, they checked and did not find any disease. That was more than ten days ago, ”she said.
The village is 15 km from the city of Echmiadzin, which has become the first center of the virus. It is located on the left side of the Yerevan-Echmiadzin highway, next to Zvartnots Airport.
Susanna Ghorgyan is one of the longest-serving village mayors in the country. Today, more than 1,800 people live in the community. The former teacher knows how to explain to the young people gathered in the center of the village not to violate the restrictions.
During this time it is difficult to find a person who is not busy in the village, many of them have greenhouses and are busy with them. There were no parties or sad ceremonies, and therefore there were no big contacts.
There is no kindergarten in the village. Schoolchildren also take classes online. The head of the village is calm in terms of technical possibilities, they have several good phones in even the busiest families. Various organizations have extended a helping hand to large families with many children.
In the conditions of emergency, the workload of the village head has increased even more. She goes to work every day, says a thousand and one questions, there are problems. The building of the village administration is disinfected with chlorine liquid every day, the employees have been given protective measures.
Anahit Davtyan.
“Everyone approaches with understanding, we celebrated neither birthdays nor christening”.
There is also a village in Armavir whose head is a woman., Anahit Davtyan has been leading Artamet with 282 inhabitants for 15 years.
In the village about 40 km from Etchmiadzin, there are no infected people, no isolated people, but that does not keep preventive measures from being taken properly. Although there is not much to disinfect, there is no shop or kindergarten in Artamet.
Due to the need to buy food, the residents are more likely to leave the village. They mostly go to the town of Armavir, 22 km away, do wholesale shopping and forget about going to the store for a few days, or use the shop in Myasnikyan community 7 km away. The outpatient clinic is located in the village hall, which is disinfected every day.
Now the employees of the village administration are helping the villagers to register to use the support programs, 17 families are beneficiaries, the aid has already reached 3.
Here, too, there are just a few people on the streets, all of them in the fields. At the urging of the village head, even most of the fellow villagers working in the open air take disinfectants with them.
