Only 10% women MP’s to take place in the Parliament
According to the May 6th Parliamentary Election results only 14 women (10%) are enrolled in the fifth convocation of the National Assembly of Armenia, which means that it has been supplemented by two persons compared to the fourth convocation.
Please note that during the previous elections when 15 percent quota was mandated only 12 women (9,1%) were elected under Proportional and none under Majoritarian system. If we consider the fact that during these elections two women were elected under Majoritarian system, it is obvious, that the political parties recorded no progress, moreover, they disqualified and depreciated the mandated 20 percent quotes stipulated by the Electoral Code.
It’s also worth mentioning, that in average 22.8% women were involved in the parties’ pre-electoral lists.
Out of 69 parliamentarians from the “Republican Party of Armenia” (RPA) 9 are women, which constitutes 13% (in the RPA pre-electoral lists women constituted 21.3%)

Out of 5 parliamentarians from Armenian Revolutionary Federation none is a woman, (in the pre-electoral lists women constituted 32%).
After comparing the composition of the fourth and fifth convocation it is obvious that the RPA has obviously increased the number of women in its delegation – 3.1 percent is amplified by 13 percent.
“Prosperous Armenia” party decreased the number of women from 12 to 5 percent in comparison with the previous convocation. Meantime, for the current convocation the party supplemented the number of its parliamentarians by 12 people, yet the number of women has been decreased.
In regard to women representation Armenian Revolutionary Federation and Heritage Parties recorded a notable regress, since during the fourth convocation women represnetation by the parties was 18.7 and 42.8 percent accordingly. During the current Parliament the Armenian Revolutionary Federation will have 0% and Heritage Part 24.6% women parliamentarians.
