Ann Hidalgo. “If the only solution to the current conflict is the recognition of Karabakh, we should not hesitate.”
In an interview with Nouvelles d’Arménie, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said: “If the only solution to the current conflict is the recognition of Karabakh, one should not hesitate; I am personally in favor of self-determination. We must support Armenia in this ordeal and struggle. ”
RA NA Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan informed on her Facebook page that she had written a letter to Anne Hidalgo, thanking her for her brave and unequivocal position.
The letter particularly reads:
Dear Mrs Anne Hidalgo
I read your interview published in Nouvelles d’Arménie… Thank you very much for your courageous and unequivocal stance.
It is already the 23rd day that my compatriots are resisting Azerbaijan in the struggle of unequal forces, which is supported by Turkey both politically and militarily. They put in front of our soldiers, the defenders of the homeland, not only their soldiers, but also mercenary terrorists from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Libya.
In Artsakh and Armenia, cities and villages are being shelled, civilians and children are being killed, prohibited weapons are being used, and the enemy is treating prisoners of war inhumanely, beheading them and shooting them under the flag of our country. All this is filmed and sent to the relatives of the captives.
These barbarities that upset the human conscience must be stopped one day.
There is only one way to end the hostilities, and that is the international recognition of Artsakh for salvation. Otherwise, Armenians will be subjected to ethnic cleansing, as happened 105 years ago during the Armenian Genocide.
Here I am sending you the deepest request of all Armenians to initiate the process of recognition of the Republic of Artsakh from the Paris City Council.
I’m sure this action will have a channel effect giving rise to other initiatives for which we will be forever grateful. France and the French have always reached out to Armenians, our respective peoples have always had warm bonds and have a special friendship for each other. I therefore ask you to act now, to act without delay, in the name of freedom, our brotherhood, justice, in the name of the inseparable friendship of Armenia and France.
t should be noted that the French MP Valerie Boyer informed on her Facebook page yesterday that he will submit the bill on the recognition of Nagorno Karabakh to the French Senate in the coming days.
