Suzy Safaryan. I think the family should give a girl wings”
Suzy Safaryan, who is 31 years old, is a linguist by profession. My interlocutor, who dreamed of studying at the Police Academy but received a linguistic education at the urging of her parents, recalls that for the first time she encountered biased attitudes towards women due to stereotypes on the way to a professional choice.
“I really wanted to apply to the police academy, but there were very few female applicants at that time, there was a family disagreement and I chose linguistic education,” says Suzy.
She says that after graduating from the University, she thought that a bright, green way would open before her, that she would have the opportunity to choose where she especially wants to work. The reality, however, was quite different.
“The reality was more bitter. I quickly realized that it would be difficult to find a job,” said Suzy, who has more than once faced various manifestations of bias against women.
