“My love for botany has never been interrupted”…

Suzanna Hovsepyan works in “Kate & G Group” company as a chief agronomist. Provides advice to public-private companies on hydroponic cultivation of strawberries and other crops, teaches online at the University of Argentina.

“When I was young, when I was asked what I was going to become, I said I would like to become a botanist. I loved plants very much. “We had microscopes and different magnifiers in our house. I could study different plants for hours,” says Susanna.

“In the first year of botany lessons, my eyes shone with excitement, especially when they asked logical questions. My love for botany has never ceased. It’s thanks to the teachers that at the age of 17 I knew what I wanted to become. ”

After graduating from the National Agrarian University of Armenia, Suzanne entered the postgraduate program, but leaving it unfinished, decided to go to the production sector, and then continued her studies in Germany, completing her second master’s degree there.

Susanna took the first steps of her professional work at the “Armenian Crop Promotion Center”, where she decided to cultivate strawberries. The company accepted her offer and invited specialists from Holland. “I started reading and learning, and I still do,” says Susanna, who admits she has never saved time or money on studying.

Today she is going to write her scientific thesis about strawberries and she has already done a lot of work in that direction. Along with professional programs, she has another goal. “I have loved painting since I was a child, I have written poems, I have even thought about becoming a journalist. “My wish is to write a fairy tale about strawberries with my illustrations,” says Suzanna, adding that the book will summarize all her preferences.

According to her, in order to succeed in the field, one must first understand the essence of work, be ready to give up one’s own comfort in some issues. “If a person is ready to start his/her day, for example, at 6 o’clock in the morning, to turn on the water or to take some measurements to understand what happened to the plant, he/she should be ready that one day the pants will be soiled and his/her hands will be injured.

“You have to work with the plant with love, transfer energy to the plant, and care can often replace fertilizers. The greenhouse should enter the plant with a smile, recognize and help the plant to live well. I love the plant, the plant is life… »
