The “Civil Contract” will nominate Kristine Grigoryan for the post of Human Rights Defender

The “Civil Contract” party has decided to nominate the candidacy of the First Deputy Minister of Justice Kristine Grigoryan for the post of Human Rights Defender. The party announced this information on its Facebook page.

 

It should be noted that the term of office of the RA Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan expires on February 23, 2022. The deadline for nominations is December 6. The right to nominate an ombudsman belongs to the parliamentary majority, the CP. The Human Rights Defender is elected for at least 3/5 of the total number of votes of the deputies for a term of 6 years.

 

According to the RA Constitutional Law on the Defender, the Defender may not be a member of any party or engage in any other political activity during the term of office. Anyone over the age of 25, highly respected in society, with higher education, only a citizen of the Republic of Armenia for the last four years, permanently resident in the Republic of Armenia for the last four years, eligible to vote, as well as fluent in Armenian, can be elected ombudsman.

 

Kristine Grigoryan has been the First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia since April 6, 2021.

 

Born on August 27, 1981, in Sevan. Fluent in English, Russian, French, German and Arabic. Non-partisan. Not married.
