The list of three parties running in the December 5 elections is headed by women
On December 5, local elections will be held in the enlarged communities of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Shirak, Vayots Dzor, Tavush, Lori, which are united in 36 clusters. In total, the number of candidates in the proportional lists of 44 political forces that applied to run in the elections is 4357, of which 1447 or 33.2% are women. It should be noted that women make up only 8.8% of the existing councils in the enlarged communities.
The lists of three of the nominated parties are headed by women
In Vagharshapat, the electoral list of the “Civil Contract” party is headed by the current mayor of Etchmiadzin Dianna Gasparyan. She presents herself to the voters not only with promises, but also with the work she has done for the past three years and the results she has registered.
The “Country to Live” party has nominated Suzanna Avetisyan for the post of Jermuk mayor.
“She is well aware of the problems in the community, with her qualification, work experience in the field of local self-government corresponds to the responsible job of the mayor,” the party close to the candidate said.
Jemma Harutyunyan heads the list of the “Amasia-Arpi” bloc of parties in Amasia. She is the acting head of Amasia community.
Local elections are also scheduled for December 5 in two communities, in the villages of Arut and Metsadzor in the Aragatsotn region. Here they will elect community head and council of elders.
In both Yezidi villages there are no women among the 5 candidates nominated for the post of community head.
The Council of Elders in Arevut has five members, none of whom are women. There are no women among the 8 candidates nominated for the Council of Elders.
The current Metsadzor Council of Elders has 6 members, 2 of them are women. Four of the 8 nominated candidates are women.
