Only one of the 17 political forces participating in the local elections leads the list of women

 

The official website of the Central Electoral Commission has published the electoral lists of the political parties and blocs participating in the local proportional elections to be held on October 17 in six communities of Armenia: Gyumri, Goris, Meghri, Tatev, Tegh, Dilijan. Both the 17 parties and blocs running in the elections have a total of 36% women candidates on their lists, but only one of the lists is headed by a woman, which means that only in one case does a woman run for mayor.

 

There are a total of 727 candidates in the electoral lists of 17 political forces running in the by-elections on October 17 in six communities, of which 263 or more than 36% are women. Most women are included in the lists of political forces participating in Dilijan – 40%, in Gyumri and Meghri – 37%, in Tatev, Goris and Local women candidates – 33%.

 

It should be reminded that out of 6 communities preparing for the October 17 proportional elections: Gyumri of Shirak region, Goris of Syunik region, Meghri, Tatev, Tegh and Dilijan of Tavush region, only two women are represented in the councils of elders (Gyumri and Tegh).

 

The nomination of candidates started on September 2 and ended on September 12. The registration of the electoral lists of the parties and their blocs took place on September 12-17. Candidates, parties, blocs, parties included in the blocs can submit a self-withdrawal application until October 7 at 18:00.

 

The pre-election campaign will start on September 22 and end on October 15. The ballots will be printed on October 7-14.
