Local self-government elections. Three female candidates for the city council have won
Three female candidates in the December 8 local government election have won. They are among the candidates who received the most votes.
Candidate for Council of Elders Zhanna Sargsyan won in the Ddmashen community of Gegharkunik region. She is in the top three with 84 votes. There will be one woman in the future council of the village with six members.
Zhanna Sargsyan is a non-party, works as a teacher at the village secondary school. Note that only one of the eight candidates registered here was a woman.
In Anushavan village of Shirak province, both women candidates were successful. Martirosyan Ruzanna and Hakobyan Roza will be included in the future council of elders.
76 voters voted for Roza Hakobyan and 73 for Ruzanna Martirosyan. Arman Movsisyan received a maximum of 145 votes, while Samvel Matosyan received a minimum of 29 votes.
In total, there were 11 candidates running for the 7 council members in Ddmashen, two of whom were women. Both are non-party and work in the village school as a teacher. Roza Hakobyan was also a member of the acting council. Two of the seven members of the current council of Anushavan village were women. So after this election, that number will remain.
On December 8, local self-government elections were held in 16 communities of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk and Shirak regions, of which 12 were regular and 4 were extraordinary. Twelve of these communities were elected community leaders, and in 4 communities council members.
There were no women among the 28 candidates for community leader, and three of the 39 council members were women.
