Armenia was elected to the UN Commission on the Status of Women
On 16 April, Armenia was elected to the UN Commission on the Status of Women for the period 2019-2023.
The Commission on the Status of Women is one of the functional commissions of the Economic and Social Council, the main body of the United Nations, serving as the primary intergovernmental and global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Commission consists of 45 Member States elected on the basis of geographical representation.
By gaining the seat for the second time, Armenia is renewing its commitment to support the global efforts for gender equality, enhancement of opportunities and empowerment of women in various aspects of social life and to contribute, on the national level, to the annual sessions of the Commission.
