Anahit Aghikyan: “If they trust the most precious – their children today, I hope tomorrow they will also trust the community
Our interlocutor is Anahit Aghikyan, principal of Odzun School # 1, who was nominated for the forthcoming local self-governing elections as a candidate for councilor in Odzun. Married, has two children. Anahit Aghikyan, who actively participated in the elections so far, has decided to try her best in the race for the membership of the Council of Elders, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the party’s nominee.
Why did you decide to run?
“The offer was from the RPA, and I and my family responded positively to that proposal. I want to get closer to the issues of community issues and their solution.
– Who are your supporters besides the party?
– My teachers, my parents, my pupils who have graduated from school are supporting me. Being a school principal I am wondering whether the society will stand by women.
– What kind of motto are you guided?
– I will do my best for my village, though I do not have such a pre-election program, but if elected, I will stand next to my community and will try to show activity in the context of raising problematic issues.
– How important is the involvement of women in local self-government bodies?
– It’s very important. Women are more earnest, and where there is a heart and selflessness, there will be productive work. I’m for 50/50 ratio: There is a need for equality so that a man can look at matters from his point of view, and a woman – from her. The man is more risky in his actions, the woman is more cautious, more economical like in the family.
