Nutrition status in the secondary schools in Armenia. monitoring
Oxfam jointly with partners from Mother and Child health alliance initiated monitoring of the Nutrition status in the secondary schools in Armenia. Research revealed that a big share of problems relates to the gaps in the policy implementation of school feeding and nutrition organization as well as the diversity and menu of the provided food at schools. A number of problems were identified in relation to shortcomings in food safety monitoring, and issues related to access to school nutrition. The latter is caused by the fact that around 25% of schools in the marzes of Armenia and all schools in Yerevan have not been included in the “School Nutrition” program, as well as by the fact that one-third of all Armenian schools do not have a functioning buffet.
