The preliminary results of the municipal elections known – Taron Margaryan remains as a mayor
The Central Election Commission announced the preliminary results of the May 14 municipal elections, in which the ruling party won, therefore the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan will be occupying that position since 2011.
240 036 voters or 71.25% of the voting participants voted in favor of the Republicans.
70 731 people or 21% election participants voted in favor of “Yelq” alliance.
“Yerkir Tsirani” party recorded 26 109 votes, or 7.75% of the votes.
345 065 out of 864 100 citizens entitled to vote participated in the election, i.e. 40% of voters. The highest activity was registered among Avan voters – 52.75%, the lowest – in Kanaker-Zeytun – 33.23%.
It should be noted that CEC will announce the exact number of seats obtained by each party within a week after publication of the final election results. According to the preliminary results, the Republican Party of Armenia will receive 46 mandates, “Yelq” bloc will get 14, while the “Yerkir Tsirani” Party – 5 seats.
