In conversations with female journalists it has become very common to apply to them with “Dear girls” reference

“Sister,” “beautiful girl,” “dear girl” … with suchlike statements Armenian officials often turn to female journalists straightening questions to them, typically they use sexist phrases when journalists’ questions not to pleasant them.

 

On the eve of the 2017 Committee to Protect Freedom of speech published the first quarterly report on violations of rights of journalists and of media and freedom of speech.  There was also a reference to this issue.

 

The report reads: “During the campaign, a number of prominent politicians’ contacts with media representatives also accompanied by tension. Specifically, in response to questions raised by journalists abusive and aggressive attitude was demonstrated by RPA Ara Babloyan and PAP member Vardan Bostanjyan. The representative of PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan and his alliance, faces former Mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan, as well as such figures from the ruling party as Manvel Grigoryan, Arakel Movsisyan, Tigran Arzaqanzyan, Surik Khachatryan, in their opinion have given “lessons” to journalists.  Meanwhile, “in conversations with female journalists” “dear girl” reference has become frequent…
