Aregnaz Manukyan: “For whom politics is if not for a woman?”
The fact that journalists are actively entering the political arena, it seems, is becoming a pattern. And it does not surprise anyone, since the level of awareness of journalists about the situation events in the country is the basis of being not only active, but also for political stance; besides journalistic experience gives certain advantages to switching to the party work. Former journalist, now a member of the “Unity” party and its spokesman Aregnaz is known for her long journalistic activities at the first television and then in the Internet media. During the last two years Aregnaz has combined journalism with political activity and in the future, given the fact that she is represented in the national list 13th place of “Ohanyan- Raffi- Oskanian” alliance, will possibly continue a political career in the legislature.
- You have come a long way of a journalist, why do you want to continue your work as an MP?
– Becoming an MP has never been my goal. I never thought that I could leave my favorite profession and choose another path. However, the situation is extremely worrying, especially when in my case I could see everything “from within”, from entirely another perspective which could not leave me indifferent. I say honestly, I have made a very difficult decision, rejected a reporter’s job and entered politics. But experience has shown that only highlighting the issues they raise it, did not get a solution. I decided to try a different path, which will provide greater opportunities for the solution of these problems and take more effective action.
