Lilit Asatryan: “I proofed that woman is very strong”

“President of the Young Women’s Association” Lilit Asatryan Armenia started her public activities in the early young years, always highlighting the work progress and innovation.

By the way, she used to be one of the youngest vice-deputy of the Minister of culture. At age 27, she occupied the position of Vice-minister on culture and youth affairs from 2003-2005 she was responsible for the state youth policy. “I do not like the word” position “, it is a duty, which means taking a big responsibility” said Asatryan.

She went from Public administration sphere to the public state management system, then two years later returned to the NGO field. “I seemed to be the ambassador of the public sector in the State system and can proudly  say that I changed upside-down state youth policy. I realized that the youth policy should not be imposed to them, but it should come from below, be based on the needs of young people”, – she says.

During her tenure there have been difficulties, which have not broken her, but rather reinforced. “When I was pregnant, people were already discussing who should occupy my place in ministry, they considered that it would be so that if a woman has a child, and then she has to leave work and sit at home. But I said that I was not going to take a vacation and so I did”, says Lilit.
