Gyumri -2016. According to preliminary data Women make up 21% in the City Council
The results of local government elections held in Gyumri on October 2d, perhaps were not a surprise for anyone. “Balasanyan” alliance of the government gathered the largest number of votes in Armenia’s second city.
According to the preliminary data of the CEC, the political will of the Gyumri City Council will be 4 political forces, that is. “Balasanyan” alliance, “Prosperous Armenia”, “Armenian Renaissance” and “Gala” parties. If the picture does not change, then “Balasanyan” bloc will take 14-15 seats in the City Council, PAP – 9 seats, GALA – 4, “The Renaissance” – 4 -5 mandate.
For the first time in Gyumri city council will have 33 members after this election by proportional representation. According to preliminary estimates, 7 of 33 council members are women (if not Withdrawals). This is a positive trend, because it was one of only one woman among 21 female members of the city council of Gyumri.
