Theresa May has become the UK’s second woman prime minister

 

Today, Britain’s former Interior Minister, Theresa May, leader of the Conservative Party during the meeting with the Queen Elizabeth 2d at the Buckingham Palace was asked to form a new government. Thus, May has officially become prime minister of Great Britain, the second woman prime minister in British history after Margaret Thatcher.

 

The UK Prime Minister David Cameron will be followed by Theresa May, who announced his intention to resign in connection with the results of the referendum held on June 23, resulting in 52 per cent voted in favor of Britain leaving the European Union.

 

May’s meeting with the Queen at Buckingham Palace, followed by a meeting with the monarch of Great Britain David Cameron, during which he received the resignation letter to Cameron. The BBC- in the official ceremony, during which May has been appointed to the new position called “hand-kissing,” but in fact the prime ministers can no longer kiss the hand of the monarch.

 

After the reception at Buckingham Palace May will go to UK Prime Minister’s Residence on “10 Downing Street”, where “nuclear suitcase” keys will be ” transferred to the new prime minister.
